Let us know how to play Teen Patti and what its rules are. Teen Patti is normally played between 3 to 6 people and uses a normal 52 card deck. Each player is given 3 cards face down.
Before the cards are distributed, a boot amount is decided amongst the players and that is then equally collected from each of the players. The boot amount or the total bet money collected is placed in the centre of the table. This money keeps on increasing as the game progresses and is eventually taken up by the winner. Winner is usually the person who has the highest hand based on the card rankings. Now you must be wondering what the card rankings are. Let us know about them. The 3 card hand ranking depends upon the cards from high to low. These can be distributed as –
- Trio/Trail/Set: In this category, you should have three cards of the exact same rank.
- Pure Sequence: Here, the player should have three consecutive cards from any one single suit.
- Sequence: In this, you need three consecutive cards from any suit. Remember, it can be any suit and not only a single suit like in pure sequence.
- Flush: Here you need three non-sequenced cards, which should all belong to the same suit.
- Pair: Here, two cards of the exact same rank are required.
- High Card: In this, three cards which are not a part of any of the types mentioned above are needed.
Now let us get back to how to play Teen Patti. So now that the boot money is collected and three cards are distributed, each player has to place a bet turn by turn. Now a player has two choices of placing a bet. Either they can play blind or play chaal. If they place the bet without seeing the bet, then it is known as blind. On the other hand, if the player plays the bet after seeing his cards then it is known as ‘Chaal’.
The person who plays the blind is known as the blind player whereas the person who plays the ‘Chaal’ is known as the ‘Seen’ player. A blind player needs to either put an amount on their turn or pack up by showing the cards and opt out. You can also continue as a seen player after that. A seen player on the other hand needs to judge the cards and estimate what others have with them and hence play accordingly. The player who has the best hand at the end of it all is adjudged to be the winner.
